Earthbound
Part of a collection of puzzles inspired by a local exhibition of Evelyn De Morgan works.
Originally painted in 1897, this painting depicts an aged king brooding over his hoard of gold, while the dark Angel of Death approaches, a cloud-like mantle floating around her. The scene is strewn with stars and a moon shines dimly in the angels dusky wing, all typical of the elements into which the miser will soon be resolved. Away in the distance, a freed spirit rises into the sky.
Staying true to the medium of the original, I've printed this copy on high quality canvas before adhering to 6mm baltic birch plywood. This piece is cut in squat knobbed style and contains my signature figural, a muted post horn.
The completed puzzle measures 9-7/8 x 7-1/8 inches and is comprised of 234 pieces.
As a limited edition of 1/1, this image will never be recycled by the workshops of Turning Taxis Plywood Puzzles.
